Elevator Update

Today, on Wednesday Sept. 9, our electrical contractor is conducting a battery test on the new fire alarm control system that was installed as part of the elevator rebuild. For this test they have turned off power to the fire alarm system for 24 hours to ensure the back up batteries can power the system for the required 24 hours. During this time we have security personnel on site to do fire watch in case the batteries fail during the test.

On Thursday Sept. 10 the fire alarm system will undergo a full test. This test requires access to all suites, so please make sure you have arranged this with Greg at DCCI if he does not have a key. During the test the alarm will ring for about 30 minutes.

Once the fire alarm certification is complete, our elevator contractor Hayes can schedule the elevator certification inspection. The rebuild is complete at this point but it cannot be put in operation until it passes the government inspection. Hayes will try to expedite this but it the inspection date could be one to two weeks after Thursday. We will send a further update once the inspection is scheduled.
